Attach Wood To Wall

The fastest and easiest way to attach most wood parts to concrete is to use a powder actuated gun.

Use a heavy hammer up to four pounds for the job. Mark the location of the fastener on the wood s surface with a tape measure and pencil. You will need enough to make several passes up and down the wall where you want to install the molding. Bolt the piece of wood to the steel frame by pre cutting holes into the frame so the bolts can fit through.

You can establish the connection point of the wood fencing at the brick wall with a nylon string line and a marking crayon. Use bolts made specifically for screwing into steel or metal if attaching wood flush onto a steel frame. Step 2 hammer the nails. To use it load a special gun nail and a 22 caliber gun shell into the barrel.

Proper installations include the use of fasteners and construction adhesive to secure the strips. Drive the anchor into the wall you can pick up a driving bit set for less than 15 at home depot. Be sure to get a urethane based heavy duty wall or wood glue. Most wall framings set studs every 16 inches so you should be okay to measure from there but double check with a pilot hole.

Measure and mark where you will attach the wood to the masonry. You need to drill through the plaster and into the wood framing. After making sure the brick is clean and free of debris string the line. Press a pencil through the wood s hole and use the pencil to create a fastener mark on the stucco surface.

If you are looking to affix the piece of wood to the wall directly pre drill holes into the wood as well using a measuring tape and marking off the areas using a pencil. Bolts should be completely threaded. Drill guide holes to slide the bolts through the wood into the steel frame. Hammer the nails into the wood until the point barely protrudes.

Attach a wood bit to the power drill and drill through the wood at the mark. Furring is wood strips attached to a concrete wall and used as a base for nailing up wall coverings such as drywall. For an alternative with extra adhesion apply a thin bead of glue on the surface of the wood that will be against the masonry. Hold the wood against the stucco surface at the desired installation location.

Press the nose against the workpiece pull the trigger and the shell will drive the fastener directly into the concrete. Often you need to secure a piece of timber to a wall when doing some decking.
